Personal Bio/Soccer Experience:

At the age of 6, I began playing soccer for Tom Chmela. I later played for Tom at Hawthorn Woods Elite when it was first founded. I knew I wanted to further my soccer career to the next level so I pursued a career in playing soccer.  While playing semi-professional soccer, I also wanted to be able to help kids develop themselves to become better soccer players so I became a coach and trainer. The love of the game is what makes me strive for higher accomplishments in many areas of soccer.

Lizzy Moyer

Coach

Personal Bio/Soccer Experience:

I grew up playing soccer locally through different clubs in the area, and I have always had a deep passion and drive for soccer and learning along the way. When Hawthorn Elite was created, I joined.  The first year, when we only had ten players, was my favorite season because many of us came from the same club but different teams, and  we worked together to build up a strong united group. We worked hard together and for each other, which was demonstrated in tournaments and our games together.

I believe being a part of HWESC and the summer camps/trainings throughout the previous years prepared me for the environment and values I wanted to model in the soccer club at Point Loma Nazarene University and that I still strive to model today! Coming home from the university, I am excited to be a part of HWESC coaching staff. The first youth season has proven to be a success and I am excited to see where it will go in the future.

Soccer/Coaching Experience

  • 2009-2012:  Lake Zurich High School soccer player
  • 2011-2013:  Hawthorn Woods Elite Soccer Club player
  • 2014:  Began a women’s soccer club at Point Loma Nazarene University, San Diego
  • 2017-present:  Coach for Hawthorn Woods Elite Soccer Club

I am a father of three, two of which play soccer. My oldest child, Lily, plays travel softball.
